Fried Apples

Use these apples as a topping, a filling or alone topped with whipped cream.

Ingredients

Makes 2 ½ to 3 cups

3 pounds granny smith apples, peeled, cored and sliced
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Pinch of fresh grated nutmeg, optional
3 tablespoons cornstarch
1 cup granulated sugar
1 to 2 tablespoons of butter, cut in small pieces

Method

Place apple slices in the slow cooker; stir in remaining ingredients and dot with the butter. Cover and cook on low for about 6 hours or until apples are tender but not mushy. Stir about halfway through cooking.
