Camping Recipes

Camping is an out of doors recreational activity. The participants (known as campers) leave urban areas, their home region or society and revel in nature while spending one or several night’s out-of-doors, more often than not in a campsite, which may have cabins. Camping might involve the usage of a tent, caravan, a primitive structure or no shelter at all.

Camping as a recreational activity became popular in the early 20th century. Campers frequent national parks, other publicly owned natural regions and privately owned campgrounds. Camping is usually a key part of the program of many youth organizations world wide, for instance scouting. It is used to teach self-reliance and team work.

Camping is also used as a cheap form of accommodation for people attending big open air events such as sporting meetings and music festivals. Organizers often make available a field in addition to other basic amenities.

Backcountry camping food includes ingredients used to prepare food suitable for backcountry camping and backpacking. The foods differ substantially from the ingredients present in a typical home kitchen. The primary differences relate to campers and backpackers special needs for foods that have appropriate cooking time, perishability, weight, in addition to nutritional content.

To address these needs, camping food can often be made up of either freeze-dried, pre-cooked or dehydrated ingredients. Many campers use a mixture of these foods.
